Fibromyalgia Syndrome or FMS for short, is an illness which varies in severity from person to person. It can be felt as widespread pain and debilitating fatigue and can come and go at short intervals or last for long periods. People often describe feelings from mild fatigue to overwhelming tiredness accompanied with pain in all areas of the body plus other symptoms. This can make diagnosis very difficult for doctors as many of the signs and symptoms are also found in other illnesses. People who suffer from Fibromyalgia don't necessarily look ill, it has been called "the invisible disease". It can develop in people of any age but is more common in women between the ages of 35-60, the latest estimate is that between 2 and 4.5% of people in Britain suffer from Fibromyalgia. There is no cure for the disease but it is not life threatening and with the correct combination of medication, life style changes and complimentary therapies the symptoms can be eased. Dave Leach has produced a free pdf. booklet called "7 Steps to Get Your Life Back" it is well worth reading and can be downloaded on the "Getting Help" page | ||||
